Praise the Lord

It is with a heavy heart that I am compelled to pen this letter to fellow believers in Christ concerning the recent devastation that has taken place in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. As you know, 12 days into the New Year an earthquake measured at 7.3 (on a 0-9 Richter scale) hit the poorest Country in the Western Hemisphere. Thousands of structures have folded as a result and it has been reported that a third of the Country’s 9 million residents are in need of emergency aid.

The strongest earthquake recorded in over 200 years, could be felt in the neighboring Dominican Republic –who shares the Hispaniola Island with Haiti. We are happy to report that we have spoken with Bishop Wanser and all is well with our Dominican Sisters and Brothers.

Our focus, as you can imagine, is now on helping Haiti. Much like the Christian love that was demonstrated toward the Asian Tsunami and Katrina victims, we are extending a clarion call for immediate financial support for our Haitian Brothers and Sisters.

The “HELPING HAITI PROJECT” will take place in three phases:

1. Free-Will Offerings
~We are asking for a special free-will specifically for the people of Haiti. Donations should be mailed to the Global Missions Overseer:

2. Canned Good Drive
~Collected canned food items will be shipped to the people of Haiti.

3. Clothing/Hygiene Product Drive
~ Clothing items and hygiene products will also be shipped to the people of Haiti.
